Pump unit
The electric pump unit
A pump unit is so called because it combines an electric motor and a hydraulic pump. The pump unit is an essential part of a vehicle’s operation.
Pump units are widely used in all vehicles fitted with hydraulic actuators such as cylinders or hydraulic motors. Hydraulic systems activate numerous functions that require a lot of power.
Our range of motor pumps or hydraulic power units can be used to drive hydraulic cylinders or hydraulic motors.
Choice of pump
Our hydraulic pumps can be controlled at variable speed, allowing you to replace expensive variable displacement pumps with a fixed displacement pump.
To determine the pump unit you need, we look at the cylinder force you require (pressure x cylinder cross-section) or the motor force. Then we can determine the pump flow rate based on the volume of oil and the time you need to make the movement. These two data will enable us to size the electric motor. Its power is relative to the pump’s flow rate and pressure.
Hydraulic pumps can be driven by asynchronous or permanent magnet synchronous (PMAC) motors to improve overall efficiency.
Efa can help you design and integrate your pump unit. Depending on your application, we can offer you the hydraulic power pack with the right power, pressure and flow rate to drive your hydraulic components.
